My paintings are generated during periods of high energy. There is an element of risk and chance in each, particularly as I experiment with water to either wash away a layer of color or swirl existing colors more intricately than a brush. While primarily abstract, each shade and dynamic of water suggests an emotion.
I prefer to work with acrylics because their fast drying time forces me to make intuitive decisions. Beginning with primary colors means concocting new colors drives the composition of the painting as much as anything else. I create all of my pieces walking around them as they lie flat. The absence of a conventional top or bottom gives my perspective a certain rare fluidity which I find to be the most freeing part of painting.
